3rd Annual Herkimer Diamond Days to Feature Music, Food, and a Street Ball Tournament

The Business & Professional Association of Herkimer Inc. presents The Herkimer Diamond Days Street Festival on August 4 and 5 on North Main Street in Herkimer, NY.  North Main Street will be closed to traffic starting at 1 p.m. Friday and continuing until Sunday morning.

Food trucks and street vendors will be on hand with a variety of offerings.  Vendors include; Herkimer PBA chicken BBQ which will kick off the festival on Friday at 4:30 pm., Boy Scouts will be selling hot dogs, Mr. Mcgills,  KDogg BBQ, Super Eats, and Home Plate Kitchen.

Light the Fuse, a band from Herkimer, will take the stage 5:30 to 8 pm and Under the Gun, a band from Syracuse, will play from 8 pm to midnight.  Local comedians Phil Canarelli and Brendan McGurk will crack jokes between sets at 9:30 and 9:45 pm.

On Saturday, Food and street vendors will be set up along Main Street all day starting at 10 am. A children’s scavenger hunt will take place throughout the day.

There will also be children’s activities, a walk-about magician, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle.  A visit from the Utica Zoomobile takes place from 11 am to 2 pm.  A dunk tank from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm with proceeds to go to the Salvation Army.  Last year the dunk tank raised $700 for the Salvation Army.  The Herkimer Elks Lodge will sponsor its annual car show from 9 am to 3 pm in Myers Park. Magician Jim Okey will perform at 1 and 3 pm.  Live music finishes the evening with Light the Fuse playing from 5:30 to 8 pm and Maddhaus, from Johnstown, playing from 8 pm to midnight.

New for the festival is their first-ever 3-on-3 Street Basketball tournament.  The Tournament will start at 10 am on Mary Street.  Teams in 3 age brackets; 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18 based on age on the date of event will compete in a single elimination street ball tournament featuring 10-minute games with a prize for both female and male winning teams in each age group.  Twenty teams have signed up for the 3-on-3 Street Basketball Tournament.

    Why isnt Showtime at the elks not listed in your article so everyone knows they are Playing Sat night Outside from 830 to 12 ???

      The author of the article went off information provided by the Diamond Days committee. Nothing was said of the Showtime performance.
