One of Little Falls’ premier events took place on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Over the weekend nearly 100 vendors–garlic and garlic products galore, herbs and herbal products, local artists, and much, much more convened on Little Falls’ historic Canal Place to celebrate all things garlic at the Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival.
The Mohawk Valley’s climate and soils are ideal for growing garlic and herbs, which is why we have so many local producers. The Mohawk valley garlic and herb festival is a non-profit agricultural festival with a mission to provide information to area would-be farmers and gardeners pertaining to the benefits of growing these crops. With their motto, “Eat, Stink, and be Merry!” they are doing a flavorful job promoting garlic and herbs.
The 16th annual Garlic & Herb Festival featured not only vendors but also horse-drawn carriage rides, live music, and demonstrations throughout the day.
Little Falls has a number of exciting events throughout the year. From their Cheese Festival to Canal Days to the Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival to their Third Thursday events there’s almost always something to do in Little Falls. Up next is Little Falls’ Pizza Challenge on Thursday, September 21, 2017 (4 pm – 8:30 pm); for only $5 enjoy a party sized slice from each of the five pizzerias on Main Street and then vote for your favorite.
