On Saturday, May 2, the East Herkimer Fire Department hosted a craft show. Lois VanAllen, event coordinator said, “The craft fair is fun to do. It’s a lot of work but it pays off when it all comes together; it’s a good thing.” She explained they had 17 vendors including jewelry, baked goods, jewelry, turkey calls and fishing lures, maple products, and other crafts.
The proceeds go to the ladies auxiliary and the ladies auxiliary benefits the EHFD. VanAllen said, “The craft fair is a good money maker for the Ladies Auxiliary.”
Rose Burroughs from Rosie’s Heavenly Harvest was on hand for the 2nd year selling her homemade salsas, sauces, honey, apple butter and other delicious products. She said, “I have good luck at the East Herkimer Fire Department Craft Show. The local customers are great to chat with.”
Tom Fineout from Herkimer attended the show and displayed his handcrafted turkey calls and fishing lures. His turkey calls are a handmade slot call. Tom explained that making turkey calls and fishing lures, “Keeps me out of trouble.”
