FRANKFORT – There’s an Irish saying: “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough.”
Thousands showed their Irish side this weekend at the 12th-annual Great American Irish Festival, enjoying three days of Irish music, Irish food, Irish beverages and lessons in Irish culture and history.
“Our pipe band has competed here in previous years,” said Sean Sullivan, of New Jersey. “We’re not this year but I still wanted to come and watch.”
“We came a long way for this,” said Lise Nobert, of Quebec, Canada, who was accompanied by a friend from New Foundland, Canada. “It’s worth the drive.”
Today is the final day of GAIF for this year, with live music and festivities ending at 5 p.m.
