Ilion Days are happening July 11th-19th. It is the 29th year of Ilion Days and the title this year is “Incredible Ilion.” a superhero theme will be visible all over Ilion.
Ilion Days began in 1986, when a small group of village residents created the event to keep residents local and celebrate the village. It has grown remarkably in 29 years from being only a parade (the Doo-Dah Parade) with 25 participants and less than 100 spectators, to an entire week of events culminating in the largest parade around, fireworks and Family Fun Day.
All week long events are happening throughout Ilion:
Ilion Days is non-profit and runs 100% on donations from local businesses and fundraising efforts, including the 50/50 raffle, Adirondack chair raffle and various other events. Ilion Days took a BIG hit this year as Remington Arms and Slocum Dickson, both large donors reduced their annual donations. And with a week of free outdoor concerts, ice cream social, parade with professional bands, fireworks and Family Fun Day activities; Ilion Days is not a cheap or easy affair.
