Ilion Days provided week of fun
ILION – Sunday concluded the 30th annual Ilion Days celebration, after a week of great weather and successful events, according to Ilion Days committee members.
“It’s been great,” said Chairperson Bettyjean Postiglione. “A little hot maybe, but overall the weather was perfect.”
Postiglione added that nearly every event, from the outdoor movie to the dog show to the craft fair to the car show, saw slightly larger attendance than years past.
“It’s been a great week. Exhausting, but really good,” Postiglione said with a laugh. “And this is the perfect way to end it,” she added referring to the classic car show at London Towers. “It’s a very relaxing, nice atmosphere.”
The week of public community events, which includes a parade that draws thousands and closes several roads for upwards of an hour, poses unique challenges for the village police department.
“It’s a very busy time for the police,” said Captain Laurie DeVaul. “Especially this last weekend. We’re very busy. But all in all, in went well. And the community had a nice time, which is what it’s about.”
