ILION – The Ilion village board announced on the village website today that it will be holding a special meeting regarding personnel tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 5 p.m. The personnel matters being discussed will not include anything involving the fire department, said Mayor Brian Lamica. There are no immediate plans to replace Chief Tom Pedersen and Deputy Chief Mike Conover, both of whom recently retired early, Lamica said.
“It’s not something we have to rush into,” he said. “There are certain qualifications involved. It’s not an easy position to fill. Right now we just trying to let things settle down. We want to take our time.”
The department is currently being run by Deputy Chief Andrew Monohan.
“Andy is doing a phenomenal job,” Lamica said.
Tonight’s meeting will open as a regular meeting, but the board will immediately enter executive session as personnel matters are not discussed publicly.
