FRANKFORT – Officials have confirmed the discovery of a meth lab in a South Frankfort Street home Nov. 29, which was then dismantled without incident.
Frankfort village police learned of the possible existence of a meth lab within the village from New York State Police in Herkimer. Following an investigation into the matter, village police found the lab in question in an upstairs apartment at 318 S. Frankfort St., near the intersection with Third Avenue, shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Police evacuated the building and secured the scene until the State Police CSERT Team arrived to properly dispose of the hazardous chemicals and equipment involved. Frankfort Fire Department was on standby for six hours while officials dealt with the lab, said Fire Chief Charles Conigliaro. Frankfort Town Police assisted at the scene as well.
No word yet on arrests or charges filed in connection with the lab.
