Herkimer, NY – On Saturday, September 24, Arc Herkimer will host its inaugural prom, a magical and formal evening for people with disabilities that are supported by the agency. Arc Herkimer is proud to work in partnership with New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID), who is graciously sponsoring the event.
Individuals with disabilities residing in agency-owned residences and supportive living homes are welcome and encouraged to attend. The prom will take place under the tent of the MV Golf & Event Center, Little Falls.
“Arc Herkimer is dedicated to creating first-class events for the people we support, as well as finding ways to build community,” says Kevin Crosley, President/CEO of Arc Herkimer. “A formal evening such as this provides the residents with an opportunity to increase camaraderie, enhance social skills, and make each individual feel special.”
This year’s prom theme is “The Enchanted Garden.” Twinkle lights, stunning floral displays, personalized foods, and more will welcome adults of all abilities to the event. In preparation for the evening, individuals have enjoyed dress and suit shopping, selecting accessories, spa days, and scheduling hair appointments.
“NYSID is honored to join Arc Herkimer in presenting its first-ever Residential Prom for individuals with disabilities,” says Maureen E. O’Brien, President & CEO of NYSID. “This special night on the town reminds us that those we support deserve every opportunity to live their best lives, from work to play. Have a wonderful, enchanted evening in the garden, one and all!”
