Bernard A. “Butch” Knopka

Bernard A. “Butch” Knopka, age 66, a longtime resident of Lock Street, Frankfort, passed away on Sunday evening, January 29, 2023, at his home with his wife, Anna M. (DeLeonardo) Knopka, at his side.

Butch was born on July 26, 1956, in Utica, son of the late Bernard and Shirley (Smith) Knopka, and was employed as a mechanic in the local area.

He is survived by his wife, Anna of Frankfort; his children, Pam Knopka (Jamie Ostinett) of Sauquoit, Bernie Knopka of Whitesboro, Maria Knopka of Utica, John DeLeonardo (Karen Rogers) of Florida, Ken Smith of Frankfort, Anna Smith (Peter Damiano) of Rome, William Smith (Danielle Koury) of Sauquoit, Brianna Haley of Marcy; his grandchildren: Kierra Fox, Jacob Lupino, Isabella, Cecelia and Maverick DeLeonardo, Kristina Smith, Allina Jacobs, Konner Atkinson, Marcella and Evie Damiano, Nathan, Kolton and Eddy Smith, Levi Haley; his in-laws: Mike (Mary) Hall, Chuck (Candy) Hall, Kim (Bob) Harris, Glen Christian, Ginny (Dave) Bromsey, Guy (Kelli) DeLeonardo. Tony (Kathy) DeLeonardo, Bob (Christa) DeLeonardo, and Beverly Krebs and also is survived by a brother, Chris Knopka. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Shirley (Smith) Knopka and by his mother-in-law, Anne DeLeonardo, also by his brothers Timothy and David Knopka, by a sister-in-law, Theresa Christian and by his brother-in-law, Rick Krebs.

Butch loved cars and motorcycles. He was the founding President of an International Club, Chosen Riders MC. He will be missed and forever remembered by all those he knew. In respecting his wishes, there are no services. Arrangements for cremation have been placed under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.
