Little Falls, NY—The Bluegrass, Brews & BBQ Festival, co-sponsored by the City of Little Falls Tourism Committee and the Little Falls Youth and Family Center, released the details of their bluegrass event today with a FREE, continuous music concert on September 17th, 2022 from Noon until 8 pm at historic Canal Place in Little Falls, NY. It will be a Saturday filled with music, food, and fun.
“We’re really excited about continuing to bring the bluegrass genre to our community with four extraordinary bands this year, some coming from the Finger Lakes area and Brooklyn believe it or not,” commented Event Director David E. Warner.
Bluegrass music originated in the 1940s with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys and has withstood the test of time with an enthusiastic following of more than 20 million fans. It’s typically played on acoustic stringed instruments and is a sub-genre of country music with roots in traditional English, Irish and Scottish ballads and in traditional blues and jazz.
According to Mayor Mark Blask, “Little Falls has become known as a regional festival destination. The social and economic benefits derived from our community-supported arts and cultural events cannot be underestimated. The Bluegrass festival is another great opportunity to showcase our City and celebrate its unique cultural lifestyle.”
The 2022 festival headliner, Dirty Blanket, is known for combining an array of influences with a passion for creating original music. They have been touring the American Northeast, making names for themselves on the festival circuits and in cities like New York, DC, Baltimore, Burlington, and beyond. To date, they’ve played events with some of the highest-profile names in bluegrass: The Del McCoury Band, The Infamous String Dusters, Jeff Austin Band, Kitchen Dwellers, and more.
Warner stated, “We have an incredible lineup for audiences this year with Cincinnati Creek’s toe-tapping melodies starting off the festival at noon. The talented performer and songwriter Andrea Asprelli, along with Jason Borisoff, entertains at 2 pm with her unique blend of new grass and rustic Appalachian tones. The Brothers Blue enter the stage at 4 pm with their fresh hybrid sounds of Country, Bluegrass, Cajun, and Irish music. And, capping off the event…our headliner…Dirty Blanket at 6 pm.”
When it comes to festival food and drink, fans will be delighted with the variety and quality to choose from throughout the day on Saturday. There will be plenty of BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, gyros, tacos, ice cream, frozen drinks, beer, and moonshine. Participants include Rock Valley Brewing, Herkimer’s DikinDurt Distillery, and Woodland Farm Brewery.
