Herkimer, NY—Herkimer College is pleased to partner with the Frank J. Basloe Library and the Herkimer Historical Society to offer a genealogy course.
Climbing Your Family Tree is intended for the beginning family researcher. Students will learn to create a family tree using online and computer-based software. They will also learn how to use both online and physical records in the United States to do genealogical research. There will be an optional “bonus” DNA class at the end of the course, at no cost, for interested participants.
Climbing Your Family Tree will meet on Wednesdays (6 sessions) from 7:00-9:00 pm from October 19 to November 30 (no class on November 23). The “bonus” DNA session is scheduled for the same time on December 14. All classes will be held at the Basloe Library. The fee is $69. Students are strongly encouraged to purchase an ancestry membership – either monthly ($25 per month) or for six months ($120). The cost for the optional DNA kit is $60.
Pre-registration is required by October 14 and can be completed by calling (315) 866-0300, x 8252, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, or by visiting www.herkimer.edu/pay-ce.
