David G. Jacquays

Mr. David G. Jacquays, age 77, formerly of East North Street, Ilion, passed away early Saturday morning, February 11, 2023, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 9, 1945, in Herkimer, son of the late Nelson and Virginia (Geer) Jacquays, and educated in Little Falls and Mohawk schools. David answered the call of duty and served our country with the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and received an honorable discharge. He was united in marriage with Jane Mary Catalina on May 21, 1965, a loving and devoted union of 57 years. Mr. and Mrs. Jacquays were inseparable. David was a devoted husband, always taking wonderful care of his wife. He was last employed with US Materials Handling Corp., Utica, and formerly employed with Union Fork and Hoe, Frankfort, where he was a foreman.

David was an avid camper and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed history, was a great cook, and loved to dance with his wife. Dave was a good man with a huge heart and was very passionate about the things he loved, always taking precious care of his wife. He always went above and beyond for his family or friends. He truly embraced being a family man and will be sadly missed by those who loved him.

He leaves his wife, Jane Mary (Catalina) (a Mohawk Valley native), his children, Cynthia M. Dunderdale of St. Johnsville and Connie L. Jacquays of Arlington, MA; grandchildren, Anthony Fernandez, Russell D. Dunderdale and Owen Dunderdale; surviving siblings, Eleanor Parslow, Georgiann Jacquays, Jeanine Jacquays, and Kathleen Ballerstein; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Angelo, Thomas, Robert, Geraldine, and Mayor Roger Stock.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, commencing at 4 pm from Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville (315-508-5131), where David’s life will be celebrated. Military honors will be offered by the United States Navy. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 2 pm until 4 pm, prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Gerald B Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial contributions to the American Lung Association or to the American Heart Association.
