Herkimer College started preparations for the 2023 Women’s Soccer season with four local all-star players making a commitment to the Herkimer Generals athletic program. According to Generals Women’s Soccer Head Coach Damon Neish, Kadence York, and Kailee Figger, both of Unadilla Valley; Sarah Davis of Norwich; and Charity Dygert of Herkimer had stellar high school careers and are now excited to take the next step in their development at Herkimer College.

According to Neish, Figger is Unadilla Valley’s current soccer MVP and an athletic, confident midfielder. She was one of the top-scoring midfielders in her conference last year and will bring athleticism to the General’s midfield.

Davis, who is Norwich’s top scorer, is a goal-scoring forward player. Neish describes her as comfortable on the ball and a constant threat in and around the penalty box. She will undoubtedly bring goals to the Generals next year, Neish said.

Dygert comes to the team from a promising young program at Herkimer High School. She is a tough tackling defender and will bring leadership to the Generals, he added.

York, a highly-rated forward player, will also be playing basketball while at Herkimer College. Neish shared that she had offers from multiple colleges to play soccer but decided to join the Generals.

“We are so happy to have these four sign on for next season,” Neish said. “Usually, we don’t obtain commitments until after the new year, but we are delighted to have four high-quality young women come on board. All four can play, but more importantly, all four demonstrate the type we look for in our program — athletic, hungry for success, humble, and excited to help the team. We are getting four great players and four amazing families who can’t wait to support the girls next year. We are all excited, and we expect to have another handful of players ready to commit very soon.”
