On Saturday, March 18th, the Holland Patent Library, located on Main Street in Holland Patent, will be hosting a Free Lesson in Coin Collecting presented by two members of the Mohawk Valley Coin Club.
Michael Parker and Peter Pavelich will be teaching tips about how to collect old coins and modern coins. They will also be discussing ideas of what to collect.
To encourage youth to become active in coin collecting, there will be a gift package including an Indian Head Cent and a Buffalo nickel. In preparation for the talk, the library’s display case was set up to support the hobby. The display can be seen during normal library hours: Monday and Tuesday – 2 pm-5 pm. Wednesday and Thursday, 2 pm – 6 pm, and Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 1 pm.
The lesson will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 18, and shouldn’t run more than an hour. If anyone has coins they would like to be appraised. Guests are welcome to bring them in.
This event was designed to promote the Mohawk Valley Coin Club’s Sunday, March 26th coin show, which will be held at the Deerfield Fire House from 10 am until 3 pm.
Coin collecting opens the door to the nation’s history and is an excellent hobby.
