Herkimer College recently announced its Generals Athletics Green & Gold Athletes for the months of November, December & January.
Women’s cross country runner Amelia Bowman-McCoy was named Green & Gold Female Athlete of the Month for November. Bowman-McCoy, a freshman and criminal justice major, was an All-Region 3 honoree at the Region 3 Cross Country Championships. She continued her season-long improvement to finish 18th at the NJCAA DIII Cross Country National Championships with a time of 20:50.42 – missing the NJCAA All-American status by just three places. According to John Campagna, Generals head coach of cross country and track and field teams, Bowman-McCoy has enjoyed the season and ran her personal best in a 5k with a time of 20:29 to finish fourth in her age group, 18-29, out of 139 participants at a local event. Campagna said he is looking forward to watching her run outdoor track and field during the spring semester.
Generals’ men’s basketball player Tyruse Boock was named the Green & Gold Male Athlete for November. Boock, a freshman and general studies major led the Generals to a 5-1 record during the month. He was also the leading scorer averaging 20.5 points per game. During November, Boock also contributed with two steals and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Women’s basketball player Ajla Sejdic, a sophomore, was named Green & Gold Female Athlete of the Month for December and January. Sejdic, a criminal justice major, led the Generals in minutes played averaging 37.4 minutes per game. She averaged 14 points, 2.85 steals, and shot 37.5% per game over December and January. According to athletics staff, Sejdic is a team leader who has helped the Generals qualify for the Region III Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Men’s basketball player Dante Griffin, a sophomore, was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for December and January. Griffin, an accounting major, led the Generals in minutes played averaging 36.75 minutes per game. He averaged 18 points, 9.35 assists, 7.75 rebounds, and three steals per game over December and January. Griffin is a team captain looking to lead the Generals to the NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament hosted by Herkimer College, March 14-19.
