Herkimer, NY — Herkimer College is inviting the community to take part in an American Red Cross blood drive to be held on campus Thursday, November 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center (RMCC), 100 Reservoir Road. The American Red Cross is asking donors to consider a Power Red Cell donation at that time for blood types O Negative, O Positive, A Negative, or B Negative, but all blood types are needed.
Appointments are encouraged. To schedule an appointment, the campus community can visit the Center for Student Leadership & Involvement, RMCC 220, or email brownvl@herkimer.edu. Donors can also go online to redcrossblood.org to schedule their appointment online.
Donors are also encouraged to sign up for RapidPass, to complete the pre-screening process from home. Sign-up can be found at redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
Donating is a safe process, and healthy individuals should schedule a donation to help maintain the nation’s blood supply — one donation of blood can help up to three people in need. The Power Red Cell donation is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you.
All donors at this drive will also receive a free American Red Cross-branded item.
