Despite the rainy conditions on Friday, the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce successfully held its annual golf tournament at the MV Golf & Event Center.

The day was celebrated by 144 golfers who enjoyed 18 holes of captain & crew golf, along with golf bag valet services, “tee party” food stations every three holes on the course, all-day beverages, a grand dinner buffet, and commemorative gifts. Other activities of the day included men’s and ladies’ longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one, and putting contests.

Executive Director Michele Hummel stated, “Despite early morning showers, the tournament was a great success.”

“The Herkimer County Chamber tournament is not your typical tournament. We encourage participation from all our members. They join us to represent their business in many ways. Some choose to golf or sponsor the event, while other companies set up hospitality tents, donate prizes, or sponsor games. This allows us the ability to have activities on nearly every hole,” she said.

“The Arc Herkimer Golf Open is a fantastic fundraising event that not only helps us raise crucial funds for our supports and services but also provides us with a chance to connect with the community,” says Kevin Crosley, President/CEO at Arc Herkimer. “We are fortunate to host the tournament at our MV Golf & Event Center, one of our seven divisions, where we are able to provide exciting employment and program opportunities to individuals with disabilities.”

“Our event is also open to the public, so it’s a fantastic way to help people get to know our members and us,” stated Hummel.

Herkimer College, led by Nick Laino, won the tournament by shooting a 54. This was their second win in recent years. They also won in 2018 during their 50th Anniversary tournament.

Hummel stated, “A very special thank you to Steet Ponte Chevrolet for being the Title Sponsor.”

The tournament’s winning team was also the event Championship Sponsor, Alera Group – Relph Benefit Advisors. Special thank you to other major sponsors: McQuade & Bannigan, Inc., Bonacci Architects Pllc, Northland Communications, OneGroup Insurance, Adorino Construction, Inc., Fiberdyne Labs, Inc., The Bonadio Group, Beebe Construction Services, Inc., All Hands Fire Equipment LLC, Braden Packaging Supply, Shur-Tite Products, Snyder Fuel Service, The Widewaters Group, TLCO, and Steet Ponte Chevrolet.
