John “Frank” F. Connor

John “Frank” F. Connor, age 90, of Herkimer, New York, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 18th 2023, in the comfort of his own home, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 11th, 1932 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of Raymond and Genevieve (Murphy) Connor. John was the second oldest of seven children growing up in the beautiful countryside of Dolgeville, New York.

He attended Dolgeville High School and graduated with the Class of 1949, and then enlisted in the United States Airforce in November of 1950. Serving during the Korean War, his main duty was being an office machine repair man, until his honorable discharge in 1954. After he left the military, he built a career in the Office Machinery Sales and Service field. He eventually started his own business as a typewriter repairman, named Mohawk Valley Typewriter.

On March 28th 1964, he was married to Ruth White of Herkimer, New York, in which they had three children together. After his children were older, he attended Herkimer County Community College, where he received his Associates Degree in Finance Accounting in May of 1988.

John enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting and watching his grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. In his later years, he loved to spend time with his family, reminiscing about the past and looking at old photos.

He is survived by his three beloved daughters, Eileen Connor, Debbie (Mark) Sommer, and Dorothy Connor; grandchildren, Justin (Trish) Moore, Brandon (Ashley) Sommer, Katie Moore, Cory (Jessica) Manley, Gerry (Lynsie) Wiegand, Jordan Sommer, Alex Freund (Lexy Martin), Scott Moore, Erica Freund (Ben Hobaica), Meghan Moore, Ronnie (Sara) Gage; great-grandchildren, Frank and Salvatore Moore, Liam and Owen Sommer, Grayson Barton, Nella Wiegand, and Nora and Torben Manley; his siblings, William Connor, Mary Sczcebak, Rosie Schuyler, Margie Collado, and Theresa Fazio; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. lastly, his beloved Smith Street “family.”

John was predeceased by both of his parents, his brother, Joseph Connor, his grandson, Connor Gage, and his son-in-law, Norman Freund.

There will be a private family viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 12 p.m. (noon) at Holy Family Parish, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, New York 13365. The United States Air Force Honor Guard will accord funeral honors at the end of Mass. A private spring burial will be held at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Salisbury Center, New York where he will be laid to rest with his parents.

The family would like to welcome family and friends to a Celebration of Life which will begin after Mass at 2 p.m. at the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club, 697 Peckville Rd., Dolgeville, New York 13329. All are welcome to attend.
