LITTLE FALLS – Twenty area students will enjoy a brighter holiday season thanks to Little Falls Lumber & Concrete.

Lumber & Concrete personnel worked at raising money among themselves for months, said employee Dana Clanton. The company’s owners then matched those employee donations, reaching a total of $1,900. Employees next reached out to area school officials, who compiled a list of 20 high school students who are not utilizing other assistance programs, and may be in need of a helping hand.

“There’s often a lot of focus on younger kids this time of year, so we wanted to focus on teens,” said Clanton. “We worked with school guidance counselors to find those kids who sometimes slip through the cracks and get overlooked.”

Each student will be receiving $150 in gifts.

In addition, Little Falls Lumber & Concrete will be donating $250 to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Thanks to the generosity of Staff Works, which routinely matches charitable donations to the animal shelter, that $250 donation will turn into a $500 donation, Clanton noted.

The lumber and concrete company’s Schenectady location has adopted a Schenectady-area family with three children, while the Syracuse location has adopted a Hospice patient’s family, providing each with $500 in goods and gift cards.
