Town of Fairfield, New York-Mrs. Shirley Faith Petkovsek, age 82, of State Route 170, Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2022, at Albany Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1940, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Howard and Hazel Humphrey, and educated in local schools. She was united in marriage with John Joseph Petkovsek on February 2, 1963, in Little Falls. Mr. Petkovsek passed away on March 25, 1995. Shirley spent her life as a farmer taking care of chores and tasks surrounding their family dairy farm, Petovsek Farm, Fairfield, which she was passionate about. She always put the needs of her loved ones before her own always making sure her loved ones were provided for. Shirley led a simple yet accomplished life and will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl Petkovsek of Oklahoma, John Petkovsek of Texas, Stephen Petkovsek and wife Keagan of Dolgeville, Randall Petkovsek and wife Stacey of Michigan, Christine Heflin and husband Mike of NC and Kevin Petkovsek and Bridgette Petkovsek of Fairfield; a sister, Roberta Lasher of Herkimer; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. She also leaves many dear friends.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls (corner of Bidleman Road), 315-508-5131. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a graveside service commencing at 1 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial offerings in her name to the Herkimer County Humane Society or to HALO.
