The Herkimer County Board of Elections has posted the unofficial results of yesterday’s election.
Early voting in New York saw more than 1.1 million people come out over nine days, including more than 1,200 in Herkimer County, who cast ballots at Benton Hall Academy.
Sunday was the busiest day of early voting, with more than 200,000 votes cast state-wide that day.
Elise Stefanik won in the 21st Congressional District, which now covers all of Herkimer County.
At her election night victory party in Glens Falls, she stated, “I am extremely honored and humbled to once again earn the overwhelming trust and support of Upstate New York and North Country families. I’m humbled to earn a historic re-election.”
Stefanik had received the support of President Trump for her bid to remain Leadership Chair of the House Republican Conference earlier in the day. She stated, “I’m honored. I have a very close working relationship with President Trump and we anticipate that I’m going to win that race because of the work that I’ve done as Conference Chair to help us win the majority. To unveil our commitment to America and to hold Joe Biden accountable for the multiple crises that he’s created.”
When asked what she would look back on two years from now and what they might be able to accomplish, she stated, “Hopefully, a long list. Getting our inflation under control. That means stopping the reckless spending. Making sure that we have a much more secure border. Support for our law enforcement is really important and unleashing American energy independence. There are a lot of issues because there have been so many crises created. I hope we can accomplish as much of our Commitment to America as we can.”
“Thank you to all of our families across New York’s 21st Congressional District for your continued support. I’m proud to earn this historic victory with the overwhelming support of Republicans, Independents, Conservatives, and Democrats across Upstate New York,” she stated.
The last time Upstate New York Republicans had a seat at the senior leadership table in the House Majority was Jack Kemp, who served as House Republican Conference Chair.
